Bereavement Ministry

This ministry is available to offer assistance, along with the pastor, to families who have experienced the loss of loved ones. They provide helpful reading materials, and sponsor a prayer service for the deceased each November to honor those loved ones who have passed away during the year. Through offering compassionate and caring hearts to others, this ministry provides a message of God’s love and personal support to those in need of understanding. Call Lavina Keiter at 796-0684 or Sharon Ast at 796-0163 for additional information.

Nurse Ministry

Parish Nursing is about health promotion and prevention in the faith community. Parish nurses are registered nurses who have made a stewardship commitment of their time and professional talents to compassionately assist fellow parishioners by volunteering services such as home visits, free blood pressure checks the first Sunday of each month, and other health assistance as requested. Any parishioner with nursing experience who would like to join in this ministry is invited to call Ann Spexarth.

Sacred Heart Pro-Life Activities Ministry

This ministry assists the pastor and the Diocesan Respect Life and Social Justice Office in proclaiming the dignity of human life. Each and every person is uniquely created in the image and likeness of God. This is the basis for the fundamental human right to life. Applying the Church’s social doctrine to local situations is a task of this group. On the First Saturday of each month, this group sponsors a Holy Hour for Life at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of the Divine Mercy followed by the closing of First Friday Eucharistic Adoration. During October, which is designated Respect Life Month, they support special pro-life events such as Life Chain Sunday and a Pro-Life Banner for the church. For further information on how to be involved with this ministry, call Joan Omo at 796-1924 or Gladys Kraus at 796-0274.

Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration

"How did we spend the the time God gave us? Did we use it above all, for ourselves, for our self interests or did we know to spend it also for others? How much time did we set aside to be with God, in prayer, in silence and in adoration?" --- Pope Francis

On Sunday October 7, 2012 Sacred Heart Parish began Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration in the Chapel of Divine Mercy. We invite you to join us in Adoration of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament one hour per week. Adoration begins each Sunday at Noon through Saturday at 4:00pm. If you are willing to make a commitment to Eucharistic Adoration or would like any more information, please call the office at 796-1224.

Mission Committee

The Mission Committee is a part of the Altar Society whose goal is to support works of charity, especially those functioning in our Diocese. The Committee meets several times a month from 9 AM to Noon on Tuesdays during the Fall and Spring. The main activities of the Mission Committee include making comforts for the Spring Comfort Bingo each year to raise money for diocesan charities: Gerard House, St. Anthony Family Shelter, Birthline, Guadalupe Clinic, Center of Hope and God’s Food Pantry. Members cut and sew blocks of fabric at home to form comfort tops and assemble and tie the comforts when they meet. They also make and donate baby blankets for newborns in the parish, and craft home-made items for raffles and bingo prizes. All ladies of the parish are also members of this Committee, and are always invited to join in their activities.
